INTRO TO Automation Workshop

Adding an automated screen printing press to a shop can be game changing for any business, but learning to master and efficiently operate it is pivotal for the success of your investment. Learn to ROQ is geared for screen printing shops and operators to learn and refine their skill set in automated screen printing. Learn the fundamentals of screen printing with an automatic press including screen making, print theory and construction, press setup and registration, quality control and consistency, and dialing in production to scale. Leave confident and excited for your next job and ready to ROQ the world of automation.

Who is Learn To ROQ For?

The manual print shop evaluating or preparing for the installation of an automatic press. 

The new automatic shop who has recently installed their first press and looking to get answers to questions and or issues that have come up since they have started to learn it. 

The press operator new to automatic printing needing focused training to learn how to jump into production. 

OUTLINE

This entire workshop is hands-on, instructors will ask you to jump in and do each step of the process and will be by your side to help guide you along the way.

Thursday Morning

  • Shop Layout
  • Dos and Don’ts for setting, rearranging, or optimizing your shop, including flow, visual process, and
  • Pre-Press
  • Artwork and Separation Basics including print orders and registration templates.
  • Screen and mesh selections.
  • Image placement.
  • PRU and CTS calibration
  • Exposure troubleshooting.

Thursday Afternoon

  • Press-Setup
  • Print planning and press layout.
  • Squeegees, Durometers, Pressures, Angles, Speeds
  • Print Settings Pertaining to Ink / Systems both Plastisol and Water Based
  • Operating System, Job Order, Multi Print, Saving A Job
  • Flash and Stampinator Settings
  • Print Orders, Strategy Adjusting Print Order, When to Multi Print and How To Optimize when you do.
  • Saving A Job
  • Platen Change outs, pallet carts and racks. Different types of sleeve pallets, neck tag pallets
  • Curing Dryer Probing, Setting Recipes, Trouble Shooting
  • Hands On Operation
  • Printing – Get on press and print a job on RQO YOU and ROQ Oval Pro.
  • Load and Unloader vs. 1 Loader
  • Job and Ink Maintenance
  • QC Process Onpress and After Dryer

Friday Morning

  • Refining Setup and Registration
  • Press Setup, Registration, Strike Off, and Breakdown. Operators work in teams on a variety of jobs to setup, register, strike off, print, and break down the job.

Friday Afternoon

  • Maintenance and Warranty
  • Scheduled Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance, Maintenance Calendar
  • Parts List and After Warranty Parts List
  • Cleaning
  • Hands on Printing Experience
  • White underbasing and over prints.
  • Wet on wet techniques.
  • Discharge and basic water based printing.

Food and Refreshment

Morning: Light breakfast and coffee (both days)
Afternoon: Snack, cold drinks and lunch (both days)
Evening: Happy Hour and Dinner will be hosted on Day 1
